A companion with an appetite
It feeds on every enhancement you fail. It told you so on the first day, and you kept feeding it anyway. By the end it stops asking politely.
An original world
You wake beside a wayshrine that has already died, with no memory of arriving. The thing that finds you calls itself the Ember, and it is honest about being hungry. Thirty-one chapters, four regions, seventeen towns, and one very long argument about what a shrine costs to keep lit.

Legendary gear climbs in grades and can fall back down. Every failure builds a stack that improves your next attempt — and feeds the Ember.
Class-locked weapons and real differences. Rangers and casters auto-attack at range; warriors hit considerably harder up close.
Two givers in every settlement. What they want rotates on its own and resets on the calendar, not on a timer that punishes you for sleeping.
A mount at level fifty. Finish all thirty-one chapters and you are given something that does not need the road at all.
